Scott Cullen has notes on a premier prospect getting the call, changes in the Red Sox rotation, a 40-year-old getting regular at-bats and more. Air Force 1 Alte Bianche Outlet . INJURIES - Cardinals 1B Matt Adams has been put on the DL with calf tightness, resulting in some lineup shifting, with Allen Craig moving from right field to first base, so that the Cardinals could bring up top prospect Oscar Taveras, who was the No. 3 prospect coming into the season, according to Baseball America, MLB.com and Baseball Prospectus. In 49 games at Triple-A, Taveras had 7 HR, 40 RBI, was hitting .325 with an .897 OPS. Hes already homered in his second major-league at-bat and if Taveras keeps hitting, the Cardinals will surely find a way to keep that bat in the lineup. - Bostons rotation is getting some new faces with LHP Felix Doubront and RHP Clay Buchholz on the DL. RHP Brandon Workman has taken one spot, but the more intriguing arm belongs to RHP Rubby De La Rosa, a power pitcher who struck out eight in seven shutout innings in his first major league start since 2011, when he underwent Tommy John surgery. De La Rosas average fastball was 95.0 MPH, a threshold surpassed by only a handful of starters this season. - Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira, who has been surprisingly productive with 9 HR, 25 RBI and a .242 AVG (.847 OPS) in 37 games, has suffered a setback with his ongoing wrist issues and will be evaluated Tuesday. If Tex has to go on the DL, that likely means more playing time for Kelly Johnson at first, though the Pinstripers could also shuffle Brian McCann there on occasion to get C J.R. Murphys bat into the lineup. Murphy has hit .348 with a .796 OPS in 18 games with the Yankees and had a .773 OPS in the minors last season (before hitting .192 with a .500 OPS in seven games at Triple-A this year). - With Mets CF Juan Lagares joining Eric Young Jr. on the DL, there is now an opportunity for 40-year-old Bobby Abreu, who is hitting .314 with an .880 OPS this season. - Rays RF Wil Myers is out with a sprained wrist. Hes struggled, hitting .227 with a .666 OPS in 53 games. Kevin Kiermaier get a crack at regular playing time and the 24-year-old already has a couple of home runs, thoguh hes been more about speed in the minors, hitting .305 with an .823 OPS and 11 stolen bases in 34 games at Triple-A. - Diamondbacks CF A.J. Pollock hits the DL with a broken hand, and will miss six-to-eight weeks. This creates an opportunity for 23-year-old Ender Inciarte, though he has a .380 OPS in 53 plate appearances thus far. He did hit .312 with an .807 OPS and seven steals in 26 games at Triple-A. - With 1B Nick Swisher and DH/3B/C Carlos Santana on the DL, keep an eye on 23-year-old 1B Jesus Aguilar, who had an .889 OPS at Triple-A before getting the call to the majors, where hes managed to hit .188 with a .488 OPS in his first 20 plate appearances. - Jeff Mathis will get some reps behind the plate for the Marlins while Jarrod Saltalamacchia recovers from a concussion. Mathis is hitting .300 with an .867 OPS this year, but hes a career .198 hitter (.573 OPS), so dont bank on that level of production continuing. - Royals 3B Danny Valencia went on the DL with a sprained left hand, giving Mike Moustakas a quick reprieve from his demotion to Triple-A. Moustakas mashed at Triple-A, hitting .355 with a .960 OPS in eight games, but hes been brutal with the Royals, hitting .148 with a .531 OPS. - Dodgers LF Carl Crawford has a sprained ankle, opening the door for Andre Ethier to get regular at-bats, playing centre field while Matt Kemp handles left. Ethier has hit a career-low .256 with a .708 OPS this season, but had an .826 OPS in May following a tough start (.618 OPS in March/April). Each and every July 1st signing has brought with it excitement and all too large expectations only to fizzle into one pricey disappointment after another. Now helming another rebuild in Calgary, Burke often described the day in disastrous terms for the NHLs management community, decrying the slew of exorbitant contracts with "unrealistic values and unrealistic term…that bite you right in the butt at some point". Value, all too important under the confines of a cap system and best found in homegrown products, is never harder to find than on July 1st – a day that sees the contracts get larger and sillier with each passing year.  It began in earnest for the Leafs shortly after the outset of the cap era in the summer of 2006. John Ferguson Jr., fighting for a job that would soon run its course, plugged two holes on the Toronto defence that July with a pair of expensive free agent additions. Formerly a member of Tampas Cup winning squad in 2004, Pavel Kubina was inked for four years and $20 million and Hal Gill, once a towering defender in Boston but far less effective under the free-flowing rules of the league post-lockout, raked in more than $6 million for three years. Both were overpaid from the outset – especially in the case of Kubina, one of many to struggle under the weight of an onerous contract – and both were eventually traded. 2007 Jason Blake came next. Scoring more frequently as an Islander in 2006 than at any other point in a 13-year career, Blake – age 33 – signed with the Leafs for five years and $20 million in the last significant move of the Ferguson Jr. era. Blake, predictably, could not live up to the expectations of such a large contract, never coming close to 40 goals again; he was dealt to Anaheim alongside Vesa Toskala for J.S. Giguere in 2010. 2008 Mostly forgotten now, but of considerable damage to the organization during a brief 10-month tenure, Fletcher continued the free agent plight in 2008. Maybe even more stunning now than it was then, Fletcher handed former Avalanche defender Jeff Finger, he of 94 games of NHL experience, four years and $14 million. Finger played 62 forgettable games in a Leaf uniform, was eventually buried in the minors, never to be heard from again. Joining Finger in the free agent trot that day was Niklas Hagman, a Finnish winger who scored 27 goals the year prior in Dallas. Hagman also cashed in under Fletcher, lured for four years at a bloated $12 million. Though he scored 42 goals in two seasons with the Leafs, Hagman was consistently inconsistent, soon to be dealt to Calgary in the famed Dion Phaneuf trade. 2009 Still months from pulling the trigger on the noisiest (and most controversial) move of his busy Toronto tenure – the hotly debated Phil Kessel trade – Burke sought a big and ultimately failed splash in his first summer as the Leafs front man. It was all about truculence then and truculence he got. There were the four years and $4 million pitched to former Rangers heavyweight, Colton Orr; five long years and $22.5 million to Mike Komisarek; three years at just over $11 million for Francois Beauchemin. Orr lingereed as a mostly unused tough guy for Ron Wilson before being briefly banished to the minors (he eventually returned to the NHL). Nike Sf Air Force 1 Mid Nere. . Komisarek, a step or two slow for the speedier new game, tumbled quickly under the burden of a deal he could never live up to and was bought out by the organization last summer. Beauchemin eventually found his game, but not in Toronto. He returned to the Ducks in the Jake Gardiner-Joffrey Lupul swap, finishing fourth in the 2013 Norris Trophy voting. 2010 Still trying to fill various holes through free agency, Burke added the veteran grinder Colby Armstrong from Pittsburgh the following summer (three years, $9 million). Armstrong never found much health as a Leaf though and preceded fellow free agent signee, Komisarek, on the buyout line. 2011 Tim Connolly recorded just 42 points in his final go-around in Buffalo, but still landed $9 million for two years in the summer of 2011. Connolly never hit the desired mark of No. 1 centre for the Leafs (he had 36 points in 70 games), was demoted to the Marlies after a year and is now out of the NHL. 2013 And then last summer there was David Clarkson, the first signee of Nonis as Leafs GM. In perhaps the worst deal of the aforementioned bunch, Clarkson landed in his hometown for seven years and more than $36 million on July 1st, 2013. Year 1 was an all-out nightmare and while theres every chance of a bounce-back of some kind in Year 2, his talents are unlikely to ever match the value of an incredibly burdensome contract. Clarkson was just the latest in a line of July 1st blunders. The fundamental flaw in continually swinging big in free agency is the lacking value the process ensures – players are almost always overvalued on Day 1 of the contract. As demonstrated yet again by the L.A. Kings earlier this summer, team building (and sustained success) is best accomplished through successful draft and development, not pricey spending on a mistake-laden day. And so while impending UFAs like Paul Statsny may appear to solve long-standing needs, Nonis (and Brendan Shanahan) would be wise to approach with caution.  The answer, especially in Toronto, is almost never found on July 1st. SOUTHAMPTON, England - Two clinical finishes from Robin van Persie gave Manchester United a 2-1 victory against Southampton in the Premier League on Monday, despite the visitors being pegged back for much of the game at St. Andrew Miller . Marys.Van Persie scored with Uniteds only two efforts on target to give Louis van Gaals side its fifth win a row and overtake Southampton in third place. Southampton dropped to fifth behind West Ham after its third straight loss against the teams it hopes to challenge for a top-four spot — Manchester City, Arsenal and United.Van Persie punished a wasteful performance from the home side, which created enough chances to win the game comfortably. He took advantage of a defensive blunder to put United ahead after 12 minutes, and went unmarked to meet Wayne Rooneys free kick at the far post to poke in the winner after Graziano Pelle had levelled for Southampton in the 31st.I dont think we played our best football today, Van Persie said. In the end, its a fifth straight victory. Were on the way up.Uniteds opener came when Southampton captain Jose Fonte hit a poor backpass to goalkeeper Fraser Forster and Van Persie ran through, waited for Forster to dive and stroked the ball through his legs and into the far corner. But United was unable to build any momentum from its goal, as Southampton relentlessly attacked in search of an equalizer. It finally came after Marouane Fellaini gave the ball away in midfield, and Dusan Tadic initiated a quick attack. He played the ball out to Shane Long on the edge of the area, who returned it with a high cross. Tadics effort was blocked by Paddy McNair, but the ball fell to Pelle who converted from close range.Long could have put Ronald Koemans side ahead in the 34th but blasted high and wide from close range after McNair failed to clear a touch from Sadio Mane.Southamptons dominance was so strong that Van Gaal felt compelled to take off the struggling McNair in the 39th and replace him with Ander Herrera. But it was Southampton that continued to threaten in the second half.Tadic floated an inviting ball across the penalty area toward Long, who was only able to head straight at David De Gea.Southampton missed another chance in the 57th when the Serbia international threaded the ball into Pelle, only for the Italy striker to lift his shot over.Eventually, a chance fell Uniteds way and Van Persie punished Southampton in the 71st.Rooney whipped an inviting free kick into Southamptons area and Van Persie ran unmarked to the back post to prod in Uniteds winner. The defensive lapses, alongside an array of missed attacking chances, left Koeman fuming. We lost not to Manchester United tonight, we lost to ourselves, Koeman said. We did everything. We created chances. We did mistakes, maybe they did more mistakes but they had players who handle that type of mistake and that was the difference. Edmundo Sosa . Municipal Judge Billy Cook convicted McClain on the misdemeanour counts after a non-jury trial that lasted about three hours. McClain was accused of yelling an obscenity at police trying to arrest him during a disturbance in a crowded city park in 2013. McClain wont have to report for his jail sentence until after an appeal is complete in state court. Cook also ordered McClain to pay $1,572 in fines and court costs. Its unclear how long an appeal might take. The judge signed a document stating McClain, 25, was free to leave the state while challenging the convviction. Adam Wainwright. Defence attorney Harvey Steinberg said McClain would head to Cowboys training camp in Oxnard, Calif., within hours of the trial. "My attitude is I think I ran into the only person in the entire state of Alabama that would convict Rolando McClain based on this evidence," said Steinberg. "Unfortunately, it happened to be the judge." The former Alabama Crimson Tide star maintained his innocence and said police arrested the wrong person. Hes been arrested three times in Decatur since 2011. McClain tried to delay the trial so he could attend the start of NFL training camp this week, but a judge refused. The Cowboys acquired the rights to McClain from Baltimore on July 1. He was the eighth overall pick by Oakland in 2010 but hasnt played since 2012. ' ' '

Working with him is a pleasure, he lets you get on with your job. He delegates to his staff very well but everyone knows who the manager is.Hes a leader and inspires everybody to do the job as well as they possibly can. PRETORIA, South Africa - The murder trial of Oscar Pistorius, set to open Monday, marks the start of a dramatic new chapter in the life of the double-amputee athlete who ran at the Olympics and became a global star before he shot his girlfriend to death. Chad Henne Super Bowl Jersey . Prosecutors charged the 27-year-old Pistorius with murder in Reeva Steenkamps death and say it was with premeditation. They say they will seek a life sentence if Pistorius is convicted, the sternest punishment available in South Africa. South Africa no longer has the death penalty. The intense public interest in the Pistorius trial is shown by the launching Sunday night of a 24-hour cable channel devoted to covering the court case. If convicted on the murder charge, Pistorius could be sent to prison for at least 25 years before the chance of parole, the minimum time someone must serve if given a life sentence in South Africa. He would be older than 50 before he could be released. The state says Pistorius intentionally killed Steenkamp at his home in the pre-dawn hours of Valentines Day last year by shooting her through a toilet door after an argument. Pistorius denies murder and says he killed his girlfriend by mistake when he fired four times through the door thinking there was a dangerous nighttime intruder on the other side. A lesser sentence is possible if Pistorius is found guilty of murder but without premeditation. He also could be convicted of culpable homicide, South Africas version of manslaughter in which someone is killed through negligence. Pistorius claims he was acting in self-defence against what he believed at the time was a threat to his life. As well as murder, Pistorius faces a second charge of illegal possession of ammunition for bullets found at his Pretoria house that he allegedly didnt have proper licensing for. Prosecutors say he also will be indicted Monday with two more gun charges relating to him allegedly shooting in public on two separate occasions before Steenkamps killing. The serving of an updated indictment to Pistorius in court is expected to be the first move at the trial at Pretorias high court. He has not yet been formally served with the papers that include all four charges against him, although his lawyers have had the papers and details of the additional gun charges since last year, prosecutors say. The gun charges reportedly relate to him allegedly shooting out the sunroof of a car in one incident and another when he allegedly fired a gun inside a restaurant, apparently by mistake. Those incidents happened in the court jurisdiction of the city of Johannesburg, not where Steenkamp was killed in Pretoria, and prosecutors applied to have the two charges included and heard at his murder trial. Female judge Thokozile Masipa will ultimately pronounce the champion runner innocent or guilty and will decide on any sentence. South Africa has no trial by jury. Parts of the trial will be broadcast on live television, both in South Africa and across the world, and hundreds of reporters are expected to descend on North Gauteng High Court in the South African capital for the start of the trial. The 24-hour cable channel devoted solely to the trial will continue until the case is finished. The trial will deal with the bloody killing of a 29-year-old model and law graduate, but also the issue of gun ownership and South Africas problem of violent crime, which Pistorius says was the reason why he kept his licensed 9 mm handgun under his bed. Pistorius says his fear of crime was why he fired four shots through the door, hitting Steenkamp three times — in the head, elbow and hip. Prosecutors maintain he was simply angry with her after an argument. Members of Pistorius family will likely attend the trial, as they did on his previous court hearings. His uncle, Arnold Pistorius, sister Aimee and brother Carl are all also listed as state witnesses. "We love Oscar, and believe in him, and will be standing by him throughout the coming trial," Arnold Pistorius said in a statement over the weekend. For the first time, members of Steenkamps family will also be in the courtroom according to a family statement that her mother June and others would be at the trial. The parents and close relatives of Steenkamp did not attend any of Pistorius previous court appearances. "All we are looking for is closure and to know that our daughter did not suffer on that tragic Valentines Day," Steenkamps parents said in a statement this month and days before the one-year anniversary of the shooting that stunned South Africa. Len Dawson Super Bowl Jersey . Malcolm Brogdon scored 18 points and seventh-ranked Virginia never trailed in handing the No. 21 Terrapins a 76-65 loss in Marylands first game of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge as a member of the opposite side. The Cavaliers completely dictated this meeting with their longtime ACC cohorts, which ended a 61-year association with the league to join the Big Ten at the conclusion of last season. Virginia shot 53.1 percent from the field, outrebounded the Terps by a 34-22 margin and led many as many as 18 points to deal newly ranked Maryland its first defeat of the season. Virginia (8-0) did lose leading scorer Justin Anderson to an apparent ankle injury with 9:24 left, the lone negative on an otherwise celebratory night for the Cavs. Anderson tallied 16 points and six rebounds before exiting, with Mike Tobey and Anthony Gill adding 14 and 11 points, respectively, to the victory. Maryland (7-1) struggled offensively all throughout, shooting just 40 percent and never sustaining any level of comfort against the Cavaliers tight defense. Star freshman Melo Trimble finished with 16 points, but most of that total came from the free throw line. The Cavaliers had it working on both ends in building a lead as large as 12 points in the first half. Virginia shot better than 55 percent over the opening 20 minutes -- with Anderson and Brogdon combining to go 8-of-12 froom the floor -- while holding Maryland to a 7-of-19 field goal rate. Tyreek Hill Super Bowl Jersey. . Virginia sped out to a 14-4 lead behind its pesky defense, which forced the Terps to miss seven of their first nine shots and caused three early turnovers. It was a 20-10 Cavaliers advantage just over 13 minutes in following back-to-back jumpers from Gill and Darion Atkins. Maryland cut the margin down to five later in the half, but Anderson netted six points during an 11-4 spurt that had the Cavs up 35-23 with 1:40 to go in the stanza. UVa went into the break owning a 37-29 edge. The Cavaliers maintained a double-digit cushion for most of the second half by continuing to keep Maryland out of sync. Virginia began to pull away over the final 10 minutes, with a 7-0 flurry capped by Gills transition layup with 7:48 remaining extending the lead to 61-44. Game Notes The schools were facing one another in a non-conference setting for the first time since Jan. 5, 1953. Both became charter members of the ACC the following season ... Virginias 8-0 start is the programs first since 2003-04 ... The Cavaliers outscored the Terps 36-20 in the paint ... Trimble finished 12-of-14 from the foul line but went just 2-of-9 from the field ... Jake Layman ended with 14 points for the Terrapins ... Maryland had a 10-5 record in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge when on the ACC side ... The Terps played their first game as a ranked team since the 2009-10 season. ' ' '

Turns out it could be a lot like the last, with the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks and the Denver Broncos favoured to meet again next February in Arizona. Seattle is a 9-2 favourite at the LVH sports book, while the Broncos are next at 5-1 to win the Super Bowl. Both teams are favoured to win more regular-season games than any other team, with oddsmakers putting the over/under for wins at 11 games. "The Broncos have a real tough schedule so it wont be an easy task," said Jeff Sherman, part of a team that sets the odds at the LVH. "They have some tough early games outside their division, including the Super Bowl rematch with the Seahawks in Week 3." The Seahawks are 3 1/2-point favourites to beat the Broncos at home in that game, a line that figures to draw some early action even before either team puts on the pads this summer. Denver was a 2-point favourite in the Super Bowl, which Seattle won 43-8. Sherman said there is more parity than ever in the NFL, with 19 teams expected to win between seven and nine games and only five expected to win 10 or more. At the bottom of the pack is Jacksonville, with a 4 1/2-win line, and Oakland at five games. Despite the parity, teams in the NFC are favoured more than teams in the AFC. Bettors can wager on which conference wins the Super Bowl, with the NFC a 3 1/2-point favourite. "The one thing that really stood out when we sat down and went through this game by game was how many goood teams are in the NFC," Sherman said. Curtis Martin Jersey. NFL games are by far the biggest attraction for sports bettors, who placed a record $119.4 million in legal wagers in Nevada on the last Super Bowl alone. Nevada is the only state where full betting on games is allowed, though bettors in Delaware can wager on parlays of more than one team. Sherman said most of the so-called "wise guys" who can move the lines at sports books wait until the exhibition season to begin making wagers, though some might pounce on the early numbers if they think the oddsmakers have made an error evaluating a team. "Once the preseason games start and you can see what the coaches are thinking it becomes more clear," he said. "But they will move in if they think there is a weakness in a line." The LVH is traditionally one of the first to post over/under win totals for the season, which were put up Sunday afternoon. Sherman said there was a small flurry of wagers made by bettors who thought teams might either be undervalued or too highly regarded by the oddsmakers. This years draft didnt change many opinions on win totals, he said, because rookies rarely have a big impact on seasons. That was particularly true with the Cleveland Browns, who are listed at 6 1/2 wins despite the addition of Johnny Manziel at quarterback. "He doesnt have an effect on what we do," Sherman said. "We like the Browns overall as a team, their defence is good and theyve gotten better even if the results dont show it. But in a tough division we just couldnt go any higher." ' ' '
TORONTO – For the past two weeks, Cody Franson was living the life of a Ryerson Ram. Cheap Yeezy Boost 750 For Sale . Two-hour skates, five times a week at the Mattamy Athletic Centre on the campus of the university in downtown Toronto. Early on Thursday morning, Franson swung by his temporary training camp home, grabbed his sticks and gear, completed a physical and by 11am had joined his NHL teammates at practice. The 26-year-old agreed to a one-year deal with the Leafs worth $2 million late on Wednesday evening, ending a difficult and lengthy negotiation. "Im glad its done," said a gleeful Franson, following the nearly two-hour on-ice session. "Its a process nobody really wants to go through. Fortunately, we were able to find a common ground and get it done before the regular season started." With his contract status finally settled, Franson will shift his focus toward demonstrating that a terrific sampling in 48 games last season – sixth among NHL defenders in points – was just a harbinger of things to come; prove his viability to the organization with another good year. The Leafs certainly believe in that potential, but want to see it demonstrated over the course of another 82 games. If proved right, theyll happily commit to the B.C. native for the long-term. "The second you get complacent is the second you make a mistake," Franson said of taking the next step. "I learned that firsthand my first year [in Toronto], coming in a little comfortable. I got put in the press box because of it. Ill never make that mistake twice." Franson proved increasingly valuable to the Leafs as the 2013 calendar wore on. A late addition to training camp – following a similarly stunted negotiation that was solved hours after the lockout ended – he started the year with minimal ice-time, drawing about 14 minutes nightly in January, before emerging with upwards of 22 minutes a few months later in April. It was a demonstration which suggested he was capable of becoming a dependable top-4 NHL defender, both in the present and in the future. "When you get people that are developing and [having] more of an impact on your blue-line, you have to credit the player with that," Leafs coach Randy Carlyle said of Franson, who found a partner in Mark Fraser five games into the season. "Hes the one that earned it." Not only did his offensive incline come to the forefront, but he also made adjustments defensively, aligning with the Carlyle way with a more assertive and aggressive defensive lean. "What he did is he committed more to a physical game which allowed him a little bit more space," Carlyle said of the 6-5 defender, adding that Franson, as a right-hand shot, was increasingly valuable on a defence chock-full of lefties.  Realizing more of that potential, through continued growth defensively and sustained success offensively, will be the challenge of the coming year. As can often be the case in restricted free agency, Franson was stung by the process, believing that he deserved more than the organization chose to offer in negotiations throughout the summer. But with the cap falling to $64 million this season, he also came to understand that the annual number he sought over a longer term was not going to be realized, thus his insistence on a one-year deal with more to come down the line. The two sides found "middle ground" at the final pressure point (arbitration and the start of training camp flying by with no movement) when the club moved on the term of the deal – they strongly preferred two years – and Franson budged by accepting an annual number below market value. "I think both sides gave in a little bit," said Leafs assistant general manager Claude Loiselle. By following up on his breakthrough year with more of the same this season, Franson has his sights on a bigger payday next summer – the Leafs have 12 players in a similar boat, their contracts expiring after the coming season – though he will again remain a restricted free agent, albeit with arbitration rights. "One year was important to us," he told TSN.ca via text message early Thursday morning. "With the current cap situation, a two-year deal was very difficult to get at what we felt was fair. "A one-year [deal] was the most reasonable way for us to find a middle ground." Achieving that middle ground was not without its frustrations, both for the player and the organization. Easier said than done is not absorbing the negotiation as a personal afront, something Franson had his trouble with it as the process lingered. Ending his dispute with the Leafs shortly before training camp was due to begin, Nazem Kadri could sympathize with the struggle. "Its hard to [not take it personally] because when youre negotiating your deals, youve got to look at numbers and youve got to have comparisons and sometimes you may not like the comparisons, but the numbers match up," Kadri told TSN.ca. "Its just business really. Thats what Ive learned. I know it can maybe turn into a personal issue, but normally the player is just looking out for whats best for him and the team is looking out for whats best for them. Everyone just wants to make a deal in the end." "At the end of it, you sit back and you look at it and you realize its just business," Franson reflected. "Theyve got a job to do and that is to try and make everything work [under the cap]. I understand that. This is where I want to be. This is my dream place to play. Im hopeful that its a long-term deal coming up after this." For now, with Franson finally locked up, the Leafs find themselves in a cap squeeze, the roster requiring some carving and a degree of sculpting before opening day next week. Almost certainly, they will not be able to carry the roster maximum of 23 players, hurt by the 10-game suspension to David Clarkson and the uncertain status of Frazer McLaren, who could be placed on long-term injured reserve (finger injury) to offer a little wiggle room. "Its still the same situation as if Cody had signed at the beginning of camp," Loiselle said. "Were still evaluating. We still have two games left and well see how it shakes out." Paired with Fraser throughout his first practice – Jake Gardiner remains an option additionally as a partner, the two paired together late in the playoffs – Franson will likely play in both of the remaining exhibition games this weekend, a home and home set with Detroit. Though he enjoyed a brief and albeit unwanted experience at Ryerson, Franson was just pleased to be back in the routine of his NHL life, ready to take the next step forward – both personally and with his team. "I love being here in Toronto," he concluded. "This is where I want to be and thats the main reason why everything happened. Im happy its done and looking forward to getting going." Cheap Yeezy Shoes 2020 . COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Cam Atkinson believes the Columbus Blue Jackets are getting better. But hes also realizes just how far they have to go. "We got a little taste of what we wanted in making the playoffs," the 24-year-old winger said the day after the Blue Jackets were eliminated in Game 6 of their wild first-round series with the Pittsburgh Penguins. "We just won two games. Its a stepping stone." For years an NHL doormat, the Blue Jackets are both inspired and also realistic after the best season in the franchises mostly rocky 13 seasons. "I heard on the radio the other day that Game 4 is one of the great sports moments in this city," forward Mark Letestu said, referring to a three-goal comeback at home that was capped by a last-minute tying goal in regulation and Nick Folignos overtime winner. "I think theres a lot more that we can give. We can give series victories and further cement the Blue Jackets in the hearts of people here. Thats whats on guys minds right now." It was a season of firsts for the Blue Jackets, who have spent much of their existence toward the bottom of the NHL standings. They set club records with 43 regular-season wins, 21 road victories, 93 points and 231 goals. They had made the playoffs just once previously and their stay lasted only four games, all losses. But one of the leagues youngest teams overcame a 5-10-0 start with a strong finish to clinch a playoff spot. Then, they won Games 2 and 4 against the Penguins with stirring comebacks. In Monday nights Game 6, they were outclassed early and trailed 4-0 heading into the final period before scoring three goals in a 4:52 span to energize a crowd of 19,189 that stood and roared throughout the final minutes. The 4-3 defeat left them disappointed, but most will likely only remember the Jackets scrambling at the finish for a possible tying goal while the Penguins struggled to hold them off. "The building was rocking," defenceman Jack Johnson said. "But theres going to be a lot more and better times ahead." Beyond everything else they accomplished, they gave ttheir patient followers some hope. Yeezy Boost 350 V2 Supreme. Over their past 111 games, the Blue Jackets are 62-37-12 -- far and away the best such span in the franchises history, and exceeded by only seven other teams in the league. "Its been great to see where we came from halfway through last season to where we are now and how excited the city gets," said fourth-line centre Derek MacKenzie, an unrestricted free agent this summer. "Weve already talked about that. What would it be like if we could have a great start? Is that arena going to be like that all season long? We sure hope so." The Blue Jackets poor history has become, well, old news. "Everybody hears about the past," said rookie defenceman Ryan Murray, taken No. 2 in the 2012 draft. "It hasnt been very good. Everybody thats here now just wants to change that, to change the culture and bring in more fans and change the city into a hockey town." Judging from the capacity crowds down the stretch and in the playoffs, and the excitement generated around this city of 787,000. For the past few weeks, the Blue Jackets have been the talk of the town, pulling off a rare coup by bumping Ohio State football off the front page of the local newspaper. Now that the Blue Jackets have stamped themselves as a good team, the hard part is getting better. "I dont think were going to catch anybody by surprise anymore," defenceman James Wisniewski said. "Everybody realizes the identity that weve created here, that its going to be a hard-fought game and that theyre going to have to bring their A game or were going to run them out of the building." Many of the Blue Jackets had already shaved off their playoff beards before meetings with the coaching staff on Tuesday morning. Several of the younger players were barely able to grow one. So now a team that didnt know what it was missing when it didnt make the playoffs is disappointed that it has been eliminated. "Ill be watching (the playoffs) for sure," Atkinson said. "What else is there to do now? You wish you could be playing." ' ' '
ST. Jerry Rice Super Bowl Jersey . LOUIS - After suffering a season-ending torn left anterior cruciate ligament for the second time in nine months, St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford said Thursday he will be back. "Im just taking it one day at a time and focusing on getting it fixed and starting rehab again," Bradford said at Rams Park in his first comments since getting hurt. "Thats all Im going to focus on. Unfortunately, I think I know what its going to require and what Im going to have to do. "Im coming back as strong as ever." The 2010 No. 1 overall draft pick was injured in the first quarter in the Rams third preseason game at Cleveland. Bradford was hit on his left side by Browns defensive end Armonty Bryant as he threw a pass. Bryant ran around left tackle Jake Long on the play. Bradford hopped briefly on his right leg before dropping to the ground. At first Bradford believed he would be OK. His first thought was maybe just some scar tissue was broken up. Certainly, the thought of his ACL being torn again didnt enter his mind. "It didnt hurt nearly as bad as the one in Carolina last year," Bradford said. "By the time I got to the sideline, I felt fine. I walked into the locker room and I felt fine, you know. "Then the doc did some tests. He said. Unfortunately, Im concerned about your ACL. Then we found out the next day I had torn it." No date for surgery has been set, Bradford said. Again, famed orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews will perform the operation. There are a few dates being discussed, but nothing is set yet. Overall, he said he feels good. "Well, physically actually, I feel great right now," said Bradford. "My knee feels great. Theres no pain. If you saw me walking around, youd have no idea that my knee was torn. So thats a positive. Mentally, obviously its tough. "To put all the work into rehab to get back to full strength and to have it taken away in a preseason game, Im not really sure how I can describe what it feels like." The 6-foot-4, 224-pound Bradford played in two preseason games. He was 4 for 9 for 77 yards against Cleveland before he was hurt. Journeyman Shaun Hill will start Sunday for the Rams against visiting Minnesota. Austin Davis is the backup. Case Keenum is the third-string quarterback. Rookie Garrett Gilbert is on the practice squad. Bradford will remain with the team and help the quarterbacks. "Absolutely, I enjoy being around here," Bradford said. "Ill be rehabbing here, sitting in on meetings and going out to practice. "Its going to be pretty similar to last year." The Rams and Bradford are used to this scenario, unfortunately. Kellen Clemens stepped in last year and St. Louis shifted to an offence geared around the running game. The Rams were 3-4 under Bradford, who had thrown for 1,687 yards and 14 touchdown passes against four interceptions. St. Louis went 4-5 with Clemens. Bradford has played just two complete seasons, 2010 and 2012, where he played in all 16 games. He was limited to 10 games in 2011 when a high ankle sprain hobbled him most of the year. After tearing the ACL and having surgery, the Rams were counting on him to return and have a big year, and possibly make the playoffs for the first time since 2004. Its been a long dry spell in St. Louis. The Rams have not had a winning season since 2004. The club won just 15 games over a five-year span beginning in 2007. To get better, the Rams invested the No. 2 overall pick in the 2014 draft on offensive tackle Greg Robinson of Auburn. Robinson played guard and tackle throughout the preseason, but he wont start the opener. The 6-foot-5, 332-pound Robinson is behind Rodger Saffold at left guard. The 21-year-old Robinson started three of the Rams four preseason games. Rams coach Jeff Fisher said hes not concerned about Robinson not starting. "Hes doing a good job. Hes playing guard, hes playing tackle," Fisher said. "Hes doing both in practice. Hes doing them all through preseason and hes gotten better each week. "We made the decision that in the opener that were better off going with experience. Doesnt mean to say that he wont play in the game, but were going to go with guys that have a lot of snaps under their belt right now." Robinson said he understands. "Im doing what the coaches ask of me," Robinson said. "My goal is to get better each day. Im competing for a spot. Im not getting down on myself even though Im not starting." Arik Armstead Super Bowl Jersey . Olsen, who is 6-foot-3 and 305 pounds, can play either centre or guard. WASHINGTON REDSKINS Reason for pessimism: There is absolutely no guarantee the RG3 will stay healthy for 16 games. Basket Air Max 270 Homme Pas Cher . He experienced his second major surgery on the same knee this off-season and if he were to need a third, his career would be threatened. As a quarterback, his greatest asset is his unpredictability. No offence in the NFL had a better run/pass option than the Redskins. And what happens to the read option offence with Alfred Morris? Will the Redskins have to eliminate that to preserve RG3s health? On defence, the Redskins must improve. They were 28th overall and 30th against the pass. Improvement in the secondary is a top priority.         Reason for optimism: The Redskins return 21 of 22 starters on a team that won 10 games and a division title with a rookie quarterback. Having Brian Orakpo back and hopefully Adam Carriker will make a big difference even though the Redskins finished fifth best against the run. And on the opposite side, Morris was the best sixth round draft pick in a long time. Washington had the top rushing offence and no. 5 offence overall. And what offset the defensive inadequacies was a +16 giveaway/takeaway ratio to end the season. Mike Shanahan will adapt and discipline his quarterback. And I am sure Robert Griffin will look at the sidelines as a friend, not a boundary. Also, and this is important, London Fletcher is back for his 16th season. The Redskins are a young team with key veteran players, but the No. 1 leader is Fletcher, To me a very underrated player and a future Hall of Fame candidate. At 510" and 245 pounds he is part Sam Mills and part Ray Lewis. What a career.              Reality: They won the division last year and I think they will win the division again this year. Shanahan is one of the best; he always has good running backs and design. He will have his quarterback play more like a classic pocket QB and I would not be surprised if we saw Kirk Cousins have a package of plays special for him. Prediction: First in the NFC East. DALLAS COWBOYS Reason for pessimism: The Dallas Cowboys were 8-8 last year, 8-8 the year before, and just maybe 8-8 at the end of this year. They set a franchise record for fewest rushing yards in a 16-game schedule and their best running back, DeMarco Murray, has missed nine games due to injury over the last two years. Tony Romo was paid an astronomical amount of money and was overpaid when you think of his limited playoff success. The truth was there was no other quarterback out there so to keep stability along with the recent pay days of Joe Flacco and others, the market was there. So how does he respond? The pressure will be higher than ever before.    Reason for optimism: The Cowboys made some good moves last year. The combination of Monte Kiffin and Rod Marinelli will make a major difference on defence. It will be simple but effective based on the ability to win one-on-one battles consistently. Last year Dallas lost five starters on defence and by mid-season it showed. Sean Lee can be the next Brian Urlacher at middle linebacker; Bruce Carter just needs to stay healthy. Bill Callahan will call plays this year and that is a good move. Key game decisions at critical moments cost the team games over the last two years but now head coach Jason Garrett can anticipate those moments and make better decisions. If Dallas continues to commit to the running game then Romo wont have to put the ball up 648 times like he did last year. Even though he did, Dallas ended the season sixth in total offence, third in pass offence, and fifth in 3rd down efficiency. All they have to do is improve on the 31st run offence.                    Reality: Tough division with three good teams and a possible surprise team in the Eagles. But in the last two years Dallas just needed one more win to make a playoff appearance. I like all the moves they have made and, after much criticism, Travis Frederick as a No. 1 pick at center may bring stability to a position that has had personal problems for years.                                 Prediction: 2nd in the NFC East. NEW YORK GIANTS Reason for pessimism: I think the Giants have a long way to go. After winning the Super Bowl last year they didnt even make the playoffs. The low point came in Weeks 16 and 17 when they lost 34-0 in Atlanta and 33-14 in Baltimore. Offensively the Giants are good but on defence they finished 31st in total defence, 25th against the pass and 28th against the run. The only positive point was the positive takeaway/giveaway ratio but I credit that to Eli Manning. The Cowboys were 8-8 the last two years, the Giants werent much better at 9-7 the last two years. This years Giants team will be younger, but not necessarily better.                  Reason for optimism: Just like other teams that have a disappointing year, it is back to the basics for Giants football and that means being a tough running team and even tougher run defence team. The combination of power back Andre Brown and speed back David Wilson could be effective once Brown is fully recovered from his leg injury. Another combination, Justin Tuck and Jason Pierre-Paul, has to be effective. A four-man pass rush has a history of success under head coach Tom Coughlin. Another issue is new three linebackers but those changes could be beneficial with three new attitudes. Manning is still one of the best quarterbacks in football and when it comes to classic quarterback skills he is the best in the division. The organization knows and believes that dominance on both sides of the ball, defensive line and offensive line, brings consistent success. The Giants first three picks were an offensive tackle, a defensive tackle, and a defensive end.               Reality: Tough one as the Giants usually have a good year after an "off" year. But the division has improved. Will the Giants create a pass rush and run defence to support three new linebackers?       Prediction: Third in the NFC East. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES Reason for pessimism: Some college coaches have done well in the Pros, but the majority not so well. How the Eagles run their systems led by Chip Kelly is one of the most interesting stories of the year. At Oregon his offence was fantastic until they met a more physical football team, like Alabama. It is not so much can Kelly run his offence? Its how are defences going to attack it? Any time someone tries something new it seems to have a life span. The "wildcat” offence has come and gone and so will the read option once quarterbacks begin getting hurt. Can the players master all the formations and movement off of formations and still physically execute plays time and time again? Logic says yes because if college kids can do it then it should be easy at the pro level. But the competition at the pro level is much higher. And what is also odd is that Michael Vick and Nick Foles, the best two Eagles quarterbacks, are opposites in primary ability. Vick is spontaneous and athletic with quarterback skills. Foles is structured and stays in a pocket with quarterback skills. Yet they have to run the same offence? Reason for optimism: The Eagles have talent even with the most recent injuries and distractions. The value of Jason Peters at left tackle and potential of Lane Johnson at right tackle is special. LeSean McCoy, Felix Jones, and Bryce Brown fit a movement offence compared to a power offence of other teams. DeSean Jackson fits, James Casey at tight end fits too. A lot of players are such good athletes that they fit this offence. On defence, the two most important players are two grinders. Fletcher Cox the teams top draft pick from last year, and Isaac Sopoaga have to be good run defenders all season. Both the Giants and Cowboys have "recommitted" to the run game and Washington has Alfred Morris. The NFC East is a tough, physical conference and as much as Philadelphia want speed football you still have to win at the line of scrimmage.                            Reality: Cant see Kelly out-preparing Mike Shanahan, Tom Coughlin or Jason Garrett. This is an experimental year for the Eagles that will be very interesting and entertaining to watch. But when times get tough, and they will, do the Eagles stick to the plan to master the system or change to adapt to the circumstances?            Prediction: Fourth in the NFC East.  Air Max 270 React Noir Pas Cher .com) - Charlie Davies netted a pair of goals, including the series-winner on Saturday, as the New England Revolution battled the New York Red Bulls to a 2-2 draw in the second leg of the Eastern Conference Championship at Gillette Stadium and advanced to MLS Cup final via a thrilling 4-3 aggregate victory. Air Max 270 2021 Pas Cher . SOCHI, Russia -- An unidentified German athlete has failed a drug test in the first announced doping case of the Sochi Olympics. The German Olympic Committee said Friday it had been notified by the IOC late Thursday that one of its athletes had tested positive on an "A" sample. The backup "B" sample will be analyzed Friday, the German committee said. The Germans did not name the athlete, the sport or the substance involved. Olympic athletes face formal doping charges if both samples are positive. Its rare for a "B" sample to contradict the original "A" finding. The International Olympic Committee would not confirm or deny the positive test, staying in line with its procedures on any doping investigations. "I wont comment on whether a process is even underway," IOC spokesman Mark Adams told The Associated Press. Any athlete found guilty of a doping violation faces disqualification and removal of results and medals. Germany has 16 medals so far in Sochi, including eight golds. Stefan Schwarzbach, the German team spokesman for cross-country and biathlon, said he wasnt allowed to comment on whether the testt involved those events or another sport. Air Max 270 React Noir Bleu. "All I can say is, we have a positive A sample (somewhere on the German Olympic team)," he said. "But as long as we dont have a positive B sample, we are not allowed to talk about that." The IOC is conducting 2,453 drug tests in Sochi, a record for the Winter Games. The majority of tests are in strength and endurance sports, notably cross-country skiing and biathlon, events where the use of EPO and other blood-boosting drugs can aid stamina. The IOC also stores Olympic doping samples to allow for retesting when new methods become available. The storage period has been extended from eight to 10 years under the next World Anti-Doping Code. Arne Ljungqvist, chairman of the IOC medical commission, said last weekend that he was not surprised there had been no doping cases until then. "Its expected that people dont cheat and those who do are not here," Ljungqvist said, noting that only one positive case was recorded at the 2010 Vancouver Games. A Russian biathlete, Irina Starykh, withdrew from the Sochi Olympics because she failed a doping test before the games. ' ' '
CHARLOTTE, N. Nike Vapormax Plus Black Aluminum .C. - The Houston Rockets hadnt been very good lately with Dwight Howard on the court, and downright lethal with him on the sidelines. But that all changed Monday night. James Harden stayed hot, Howard provided a boost on defence and the Rockets won their fourth straight game 100-89 to cool off the surging Charlotte Bobcats. Harden scored 31 points and Howard battled through foul trouble and a head cold he picked up over the weekend to chip in with 10 points and 10 rebounds, handing the Bobcats only their second loss in the last 11 games at home. Houston had lost three straight before Howard decided to sit out and rest a nagging ankle injury. The Rockets quickly started rolling without him, winning the next three games by an average of 23 points. "Dwight is a great talent and you figure a way to get him in," Harden said. "He didnt score the ball well tonight, but he had 10 rebounds and did so many other things, He held Al Jefferson to a fewer amount of points. It doesnt always show up in the stat sheet, but we know how important he is to our team." Jefferson still finished with 20 points and 11 rebounds for Charlotte, but many of those came when Howard was sitting out after picking up a pair of offensive fouls — his third and fourth of the game — in the third quarter. "I was trying to play through (being sick) and the conditioning, but the important part is we got the win," Howard said. Terrence Jones added 18 points and seven rebounds in the victory and Chandler Parsons and Patrick Beverly had backbreaking 3-pointers on consecutive possessions in the final two minutes to seal the victory. The Rockets (48-22) entered 1 1/2 games behind the Los Angeles Clippers in the race for third place in the Western Conference and riding a wave of confidence having shot 54.7 per cent during the recent three-game win streak. The turning point came late in the third quarter with the Bobcats leading 66-65. Harden took over, helping Houston close the quarter with a 13-2 run to build a double-digit lead. Harden scored 10 points during that crucial stretch, including a breakaway left-handed dunk and a fall away 3-pointer. He was fouled another 3-point attempt and sank all three shots. The Bobcats got to within five on a jumper by Jefferson in the lane, but Parsons and Beverly each hit 3s to push the lead to 98-87 with one minute left in the game. "Chandler made a really big transition 3 and Pat made a big 3 in the corner that kind of sealed the game," Rockets coach Kevin McHale said. Kemba Walker had 22 points to lead Charlotte. The Bobcats (34-37) came in having won seven of their last 10 — including a 30-point victory over Portland on Saturday night — and looking to gain ground on Washington in the race for the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. But they shot just 37 per cent from the field. "The ball movement just wasnt the same tonight. We didnt have a James Harden," Jefferson said. Few teams do. At times, Harden was hitting step-back jump shots that not even the leagues best defenders could stop. Jefferson called Harden the best 1-on-1 player in the game. "He didnt do anything that surprised me tonight," Jefferson said. "Hes an amazing player." It was Hardens 18th 30-point game this season. "He just took over," McHale said. "Hes been fantastic and playing the right way. He had 31 (points) on 19 shots. And hes making the right play. Hes making great passes and he led us in assists" with five. NOTES: NBA Commissioner Adam Silver attended the game. Silver said he would like to see Charlotte host the NBA All-Star game in the near future. "The process is for them to apply. Weve had our events department down here to survey the building and there are some upgrades to the building that are needed. Part of the understanding is to assure the building remains state-of-the-art... but Id love to bring the All-Star game back here. Its a hotbed of basketball and the only thing they have to do is apply." ... Team owner Michael Jordan took in the game from the end of the Bobcats bench. ...
